Romantic Cape May Engagement Session

Cristina and Larry’s Cape May engagement session was one of those evenings that felt straight out of a summer dream – relaxed, full of laughter, and drenched in golden light. They brought along their two adorable dogs (who quickly became the stars of the show) and the kind of easy energy that makes photographing couples like them such a joy.

We started on the lawn at Congress Hall, where the hydrangeas were in full bloom – those soft, pastel petals that make every corner of Cape May feel like it belongs in a storybook. We grabbed a glass of wine at the outdoor patio bar, and eased into the session with playful and easygoing prompts. I love beginning engagement sessions this way – just letting couples be themselves before the camera really comes out. It’s the secret to those natural, effortless moments that tell the best stories.

After a few sips and a lot of laughs, we wandered through the gardens and the lawn, soaking up the charm of this historic Cape May spot. The light was soft and golden, filtering through the trees. The hydrangeas framed every shot perfectly, and Cristina and Larry’s connection shone through in every photo – warm, genuine, and full of love.

As the sun began to dip, we headed down to the beach for the second part of their Cape May engagement session. The sky put on the most stunning show with soft pinks and golden tones melting into the horizon. Their pups ran along the shoreline while Cristina and Larry walked hand in hand through the surf and the waves brushing their ankles. It was the kind of evening that makes you forget you’re even taking photos – just two people completely in the moment, soaking up the magic of where they are.

Sessions like this are always my favorite, the ones that feel more like a date night than a photoshoot. The ones where you can breathe, laugh, and let your personality take center stage without trying too hard.
