Brett Baty’s Intimate Engagement on the Beaches of Cape May

On a quiet Tuesday evening, Brett Baty (third baseman for the New York Mets) asked Anna to spend forever with him – and it was just as meaningful and joyful as you’d imagine.

The couple got engaged on the beach at Cape May Point, one of the most peaceful, tucked-away spots along the Jersey Shore. I arrived a bit early to set the scene – just a white blanket, a chilled bottle of champagne, and two glasses nestled in the dunes, hidden from view so Anna wouldn’t suspect a thing. Aside from a few fishermen and families wrapping up their beach day, it was nearly empty – perfectly serene.

I waited with my camera tucked from sight in the dune grass as Brett and Anna made their way down the sandy path and onto the beach. Brett paused and wrapped Anna in his arms. Shortly after, he dropped to one knee – the moment was pure magic. Anna was completely surprised, bursting into happy tears, jumping up and down with excitement. The joy on both of their faces was unforgettable.

They toasted with champagne and had a few quiet moments together before I texted Brett’s mom to let the rest of the family know it was time. As Anna saw his parents and sister walking down the beach with her family, she was overwhelmed all over again. Her reaction was priceless – completely stunned and full of emotion. Their families gathered around, celebrating and soaking up such a special moment together.

It was an honor to capture this incredible milestone for Brett and Anna. As an East Coast wedding photographer, moments like these are what I live for – real emotion, genuine connection, and once in a lifetime memories.
